BirguFest – Birgu by Candlelight

Rolex Middle Sea Race

This year, the Rolex Middle Sea Race has its 32nd anniversary. From Valletta’s harbour, about 70 cruisers embark on a 606-sea-mile journey to pass the Strait of Messina along the eastern coast of Sicily. The trip continues around Stromboli, Favignana, and Pantelleria on Sicily, and then back to Malta through Lampedusa. The different landscapes and textures of the sea make this race a particular challenge and attraction! The race will be held on the 19th of October.

Glitch Festival

Coming off 2 very strong editions, Glitch Festival has quickly established itself as the biggest festival in Malta as well as one of Europe’s major electronic festivals. Following last year’s strong response, hosting 4,000 people from over 50 different countries including UK, France, Germany, Australia, Brazil and USA - the Glitch team is already gearing up for an even bigger 2018 edition. Glitch Festival returns on the 14th, 15th & 16th of August, where music enthusiasts from all over the world are called to gather at the gates of the mystical House-and-Techno fortress for three solid days on a sonic adventure on the Mediterranean island of Malta.

Glitch Festival will officially take place at Gianpula fields, framed against the iconic skyline of Malta’s fortified city, Mdina. The main festival will be held on the 14th and 15th of August followed by a boat-party on the 16th for a perfect sun-soaked finale.

Holy Week – Good Friday & Easter

Easter is a big celebration in Malta. Churches are lavishly decorated and glow in the evenings. You shouldn’t miss the magnificent Easter church parades on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Two famous parades take place on Good Friday in Qormi and on Good Friday and Easter Sunday in Vittoriosa. Many Maltese participate and re-enact Biblical scenes in costumes. The Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta

The Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta will run from 13-17 April 2019.  This treasure hunt shall be based around creating exclusive Nickelodeon experiences and rewards at select attractions around the Maltese Islands. Activities will include searching for SpongeBob SquarePants and friends at the National Aquarium, learning through play with the PAW Patrol pups at the Esplora Science Centre, learning to duel with Nella the Princess Knight at the 16th-century St James Cavalier, and joining the pizza-loving Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at Is-Suq Tal-Belt food market.
